To Ride a White Horse?

Pretty tricky when it's carved into a hill?

Apparently there are lots of these white horses cut into the hills in England. I hope to see some more before I finish my travels! There were at least 24 known white horses, with 13 of them being in Wiltshire. The oldest and most famous white horse is the Uffington Horse, in Oxfordshire. That one is something like 3000 years old!

This one is the Alton Barnes white horse and was made in 1812, so it's very young in comparison. It overlooks Pewsey Vale towards the new Pewsey white horse which they carved in 1937. The old Pewsey white horse can no longer be seen, so they thought it might be a good way to mark the Coronation of King George VI by carving a new one.
